Event Recap - George Stutz Student Days
GEODE professionals and dozens of undergraduate and graduate students gathered at the Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy at the University of Nevada, Reno.
GEODE Internship Program
The GEODE internship program helps students gain exposure to the geothermal sector and develop the skills necessary to work in the field.
GEODE Datathon Winners Announced
GEODE held two Datathons that brought together more than 140 students and young professionals to develop new solutions to challenges in the geothermal energy sector. Learn about the winners here!
George Stutz Student Days
GEODE is offering an incredible opportunity for students studying oil and gas and geothermal technologies where you'll learn firsthand how the two sectors are coming together and how you can be a part of it. Apply now!
GEODE Datathons – Call for Participants
The GEODE consortium is launching two Datathons designed to empower the next generation of geothermal experts. We are calling on university students, young professionals, and anyone interested in expanding their geothermal know-how. Participants will learn from experts in the geothermal and oil and gas (O&G) sectors and use real-world challenges to uncover groundbreaking solutions.
Upcoming GEODE Webinar on Well Modelling
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is hosting the next GEODE Webinar on April 18 titled, “Well Modelling Applied to Geothermal Resource Evaluation.” Elkin Santafé and Yamal Askoul from Baker Hughes will discuss a general workflow that allows a preliminary evaluation of a geothermal resource using simplified well model and nodal analysis and exposing the differences with the numerical reservoir simulation techniques. Visit GEODE’s calendar of events to catch this insightful discussion.
Geothermal Workforce Development Stakeholder Survey
We aim to overcome barriers to geothermal deployment and support the expanding geothermal workforce by understanding the current skills and future needs of communities and organizations. This survey will help us understand public perceptions, needs, and interest in geothermal energy as we work to make it a cornerstone of America's energy generating capacity. Your input is vital to shaping this future.
GEODE Kick Off - Consortium moving fast to accelerate geothermal by collaborating with oil and gas
The Geothermal Energy from Oil and Gas Demonstrated Engineering (GEODE) consortium publicly kicked off in September on a comprehensive roadmap for unlocking the full potential of the renewable heat beneath our feet. The event took place at the historic Julia Ideson Library in Houston.
More than 120 organizations came together, organized in working groups to discuss technology, data availability, demonstration projects, non-technical barriers, and workforce adoption.CAPABILITIES MAPPING Initiative by GEODE Consortium - National Labs
GEODE consortium is launching an initiative to develop an open-access AI-assisted database that catalogues key testing facilities, expertise, and research focus areas. Our goal is to map out the geothermal and oil & gas capabilities within National Labs to facilitate the adaptation of cutting-edge technology to geothermal environments in the near future. This is a call for action for National Labs, via an RFI process (Request for Information). Participants are requested to complete the form by 1st November.
Request for Proposals - Searchable Database to Support Capabilities Mapping
GEODE Consortium launches a Request for Proposals to develop an AI-assisted searchable database that will allow for both traditional search based on keywords and conversational searchbased on large language modeling (LLM). To facilitate the adaptation of O&G technologies to geothermal under Facet 1 (Technology Transfer), the GEODE consortium is surveying geoscience and engineering university departments and national labs to create a searchable database of relevant testing facilities, competencies and research interests inside of US National Labs and academic institutions with geoscience and engineering departments. Interested parties shall provide their RFP responses on November 7th, 2024.
